YERT: Your Environmental Road Trip

It's been a couple of weeks or so that I have been contacted by Mark to create the graphics for this very interesting documentary.
Check this out:

Well, as usual some maps going in here. All the graphics are created in Photoshop and Illustrator. All the animations done in After Effects using mostly Stroke, some camera movements and lights.

Some problems came out due to the HDTV 4:2:2 10 bit uncompressed resolution. The first comp where I created the US map was 1000X7000!!! That comp was then used in a HDTV resolution with a camera moving and following the route.

The route was created using an Ilustrator path on the layer's position. That is a really easy and fast technique to connect a layer to a mask created in Illustrator.
In this case I just could trace the path in Illustrator and later copy that path on the layer's position in AE. It automatically created a motion path with roves keyframes that I could easily modify.

At the end the result it's been kind of quick. Not so quick the rendering though, due to the resolution and the intense use of SHADOWS and LIGHTING.

Check out www.yert.com for more information and latest news on the premiere.
